The cenotaph holds books in which are written all the names of those who have died as a result of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima.

Over half a century after the bombing, people are still dying because of the bomb.

The names of those who have died are written in the books every year on August 6, the anniversary of the bombing. Before then, the books are aired out.

I happened upon the airing-out ceremony on my way to work yesterday morning.
